Chambolle-Musigny Village
- Appellation
- Chambolle-Musigny Village
- Region
- Village Appellation: Côte de Nuits, in the Côte D’Or
- Location
- This little village in Côte de Nuits has never wanted to spread, so precious is its soil. A Sully lime-tree with a circumference of 5 metres has scarcely enough room to grow! An old annex of the Cîteaux abbey, Chambolle-Musigny has two superb Grand Crus: Bonnes-Mares, linking with Morey-Saint-Denis, and Musigny, at the top of Clos de Vougeot. It also has a prestigious Premier Cru: Les Amoureuses, one of the village's excellent vintages. The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée dates back to September 1936 – one of the very first in France.
- The Terroir
- Between 250 and 300 metres in altitude, facing the rising sun, the hillside is close to the bedrock with a shallow soil. Many fissures in the hard limestone allow the roots to find happiness, deep down in the Jurassic sub-soil. Blocks and gravel ensure proper drainage at the bottom of the valley.

- CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINE
- Chambolle-Musigny is a red wine, and is often called the most "feminine" of the Côte de Nuits wines. Its intensity and finesse are expressed with an elegant subtlety. Visually, a bright ruby colour with brilliant and luminous highlights. It can deepen a little, while keeping its brilliance. Violets and small red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) compose its distinctly typical bouquet. With age, it evolves towards spicy mature fruits, prunes or truffle, undergrowth and animal. Rich, aromatic and complex, it caresses the palate with silk and lace. Its fleshy delicacy doesn't prevent it from preserving a solid, long-lasting structure. Rather mellow, with little acidity, its tannins remain caressing.
